About Companah

The heart and mind of Companah.

Companah is a women-owned, family business in North Carolina. We started Companah because we’ve loved our own companions through every chapter — and we know how much it matters to have someone you trust beside you when the last chapter comes.

Hal & Shannon Atkins

Founded in central North Carolina.

We started Companah after recognizing that aftercare deserves the same care, dignity, and humanity that families pour into their companions while they’re alive. Most options didn’t feel like that. We wanted to build something that does.

Hal grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains; Shannon spent her early years on the Neuse and Pamlico Rivers. We bring water cremation — a gentler, more natural process — to families and veterinary partners across North Carolina, and treat every companion the way we’d want our own to be treated. Always.

Our Values

The Three.

Care Deeply

Every interaction reflects the full weight of what this moment means for your family.

Show Up Fully

Complete, clear, and confident. We answer when you call. We say what we mean.

Do It Right

Accurate, appropriate, and on-brand. The same care we’d give our own companions, every time.
